Trans Day of Visibility 2026

In a time of crisis, visibility demands action.

Today, on Trans Day of Visibility, we honor the beauty and brilliance of trans and nonbinary people everywhere.

We stand on the shoulders, and the graves of those who came before us. Black and Brown trans people, trans femmes, and nonbinary people who dared to live boldly in a world that has not always made space for them. Their courage made our visibility possible.

But let’s be clear, visibility is not the end goal.

Visibility alone has never been enough to keep us safe.
Visibility alone has never guaranteed our survival.
And today, for many in our community, visibility comes with risk, not celebration.

As our community has said time and time again, visibility without action leaves us vulnerable.

Across this country, we are witnessing coordinated attacks on our lives, in classrooms, in courtrooms, in healthcare systems, and in our communities. Trans youth are being targeted. Trans elders are being left behind. Black and Brown trans people continue to face disproportionate violence and economic instability. Disabled and immigrant trans people are navigating systems that were never built for us.

Even in places like Massachusetts, where progress has been made, too many of us are struggling to survive. Progress ≠ Equity.  Policy ≠ Safety.

So today, we refuse to let visibility be reduced to performance.

Visibility must demand action.

Action means investing in housing, healthcare, education, and employment that centers the most marginalized among us.
Action means protecting trans people from violence, not just in law, but in practice.
Action means resourcing trans-led organizations and trusting trans leadership.
Action means building a future where we are not simply included, but where we can truly live, lead, and thrive.

If you are an ally, action also means to take on the risk of visibility with us. Speak up. Show up. Organize. Fund this work. Challenge harm in your communities. The burden cannot continue to fall solely on trans people.

Because what we are fighting for is bigger than visibility.

We are fighting for a future rooted in care over control,
community over isolation,
and liberation over assimilation.

To our trans and nonbinary siblings — whether you are visible or not — you are loved. You are powerful. And you belong here!

And to everyone reading this:
Don’t just see us. Stand with us. Fight with us. Build with us.

Because visibility was never the destination.
Liberation is.

A special TDOV message to community from Tre’Andre:

Ready to stand with us? Here’s how you can dive in:

1. Become a sustaining monthly donor of MTPC to help us and the trans and nonbinary community of Massachusetts weather this storm. Your regular financial support will not only allow us to continue doing urgent advocacy for laws that will protect and affirm trans Bay Staters, it will allow us to expand our community development programs that provide assistance with legal name changes, emergency financial assistance, leadership development training, and free gender affirming garments and supplies.

2. Volunteer with MTPC! We are seeking volunteers as we look to engage and connect with our community this Pride. We have multiple dates and cities available where we could really use your help!

Volunteer Responsibilities:

-Serve as a friendly advocate of MTPC’s mission, vision, and values.
-Connect people to MTPC’s advocacy, education, and direct service work.
