Get Involved with MTPC

The Massachusetts Transgender Political Coalition is dedicated to ending discrimination on the basis of gender identity and gender expression. We envision a world where people of all genders are treated with respect and fully participate in all areas of society, free from fear of prohibition, harassment or violence based on their gender identity or expression.

To that end we educate the public, advocate with state, local, and federal government, engage in activism, and encourage empowerment of community members through collective action. That’s where you come in.

You can help!

MTPC has four ways that YOU can help us with our mission: volunteer for events, become a community advocate, intern or volunteer at our office, and/or join a committee.

Volunteer for events

An MTPC volunteer is someone who wants to come to Pride and other events to help us table, connect with the community, hand out materials, rally support for the our anti-discrimination legislation, and help bring awareness to the issues currently affecting the trans community.

For more info on becoming a volunteer, email info@masstpc.org

Intern or volunteer at the MTPC office

The MTPC internship/office volunteer program gives high school, college students, or any community member the opportunity to advance professionally and/or academically by learning about, and working in, a small non-profit that focuses on transgender equal rights, non-discrimination on the basis of gender identity and gender expression, and political advocacy.

We ask that interns and office volunteers stay for a minimum of 8-12 weeks and 12-20 hours per week – long enough to really dive into a project and make a significant contribution. We’ll work with you to set your start and end dates any time throughout the year. Internships can last as long as one year.

Join an MTPC committee

Committees are one of the primary ways we (MTPC Steering Committee, members, and volunteers) do our activism. Each committee addresses a specific topic or area. Committee membership is open to all, except Steering, which requires prior involvement with MTPC. Learn more about MTPC committees.
