Hello and happy autumn! Mason here, and I’m writing to announce the events scheduled for next week’s sixth annual Transgender Awareness Week! The mission of Transgender Awareness Week (#TransWk) is two-fold: we seek to educate the public about issues facing the transgender community here in Massachusetts, as well as bring our community together for support and conversation. We hope you’re as excited as we are about some of the amazing programs and events coming up all across the state.
You can see a full schedule of events here. I encourage everyone to attend events hosted by our collaborating organizations like Fenway Health, the Queer Asian and Pacific-Islander Alliance, Body Image for Justice, and many others.
I want to personally invite you to MTPC’s Transgender Awareness Week Reception on Wednesday, November 13 at Club Café. This is an opportunity to come meet the MTPC staff and leadership, mingle, see some old friends and make some new ones. I look forward to meeting you there!
On Friday, November 15th, we invite you to come see comic and transman Ian Harvie at Who’s on First Comedy Club. Proceeds from the event will go to support MTPC’s continued work. Come spend a hilarious evening with us!
We will honor those whose lives were taken due to anti-transgender bias on Sunday, November 17th at the Boston Transgender Day of Remembrance and Vigil. Doors will open at 3:30pm at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul.
There are additional programs and events going on, and we will keep you updated with all those in the next week. Until then, take a look at the schedule of events, follow #TransWk on social media, and make some plans to come out for Transgender Awareness Week!
