Support Group for Parents with Trans Youth 2x a month: one evening during the week in Boston and one Saturday in Waltham

Greater Boston PFLAG in collaboration with the Sidney Borum Jr. Health Center is offering a support group for parents who have a transgender child. The group will meet 2x a month and will be parent-driven and facilitated by Sidney Borum and/or PFLAG. This is not a therapeutic group. It is an opportunity for parents who have a transgender child to meet and talk to other parents. It will offer support and education on specific topics such as the family process to acceptance; whom to tell, why and how; hormone intervention/transition kid carrier decisions; the educational system; legal issues; deconstructing sex and gender; plus occasionally there will be guest speakers. The group will be ongoing and it is not required that parents attend every week. To join the group and get more information contact Melissa MacNish []

Greater Boston PFLAG Greater Boston PFLAG provides support groups for parents of LGBT people in the Boston and surrounding areas. Our support groups, which we call chapter meetings, are a great place to get to know other people with LGBT family members and friends, and to receive information and support. Meetings are relaxed and informal, and everyone is welcome. We start with a brief information/business session and devote the remaining time to support. Each person has an opportunity to speak, but no one is pressured. Discussions are completely confidential.(Link Checked 6.28.11)
