The ID Project
What it is:
The ID Project is a collaborative project with GLAD, and the law firm Ropes and Gray. Together, we are providing free legal assistance with name and gender marker changes across New England.
Who can Participate:
Anyone is welcome to participate (Parents of minors may participate in the name of the minor). However, it is important to note that this assistance is only available to those living in New England.
The lawyers at Ropes and Gray are providing the one-on-one legal assistance – but we still need your help! If you are interested in providing community support to those working through the process, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. We need community members and allies who can provide the non-legal support: like going with people to Probate Court, or the RMV, talking with community members who have questions, or just being in our corner through this process. Your support can help in many important ways.
Trans/GNC (Gender Non-Conforming) Participants:
To sign up for the ID Project and be matched with a trained volunteer, please visit: www.glad.org/ID.
We are working to provide financial assistance for those who can not afford a name and gender marker change on state and federal identity documents. These fees can exceed $300, depending on the steps, making access difficult for many in our community.
If you can, please consider donating to our ID Project fund to help our community.
If you are in need of financial assistance, please email Tre’Andre: TreAndreValentine@masstpc.org.
