Cambridge Transgender Awareness Month Panel: Speak Up, Speak Out (Hybrid)

November 16, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

This Transgender Awareness Month, the Cambridge Healthy Children’s Task Force, with co-sponsors the Cambridge LGBTQ+ Commission, Cambridge Public Library, and Project 10 East (P10), are proud to present a panel discussion on the lived experience of transgender and non-binary youth featuring members of SpeakOUT Boston and local community members. Join us to connect with other transgender, nonbinary, and gender nonconforming youth; their caregivers and allies; and those who want to be better allies to the LGBTQIA+ community!

This event is hybrid. You can register to come in person or attend the webinar session. Zoom links will be sent to registrants one hour before the event starts.

Jace Kirschner (they/them or he/him) is currently a Senior Educational Technologist with MIT Open Learning, and identifies as a queer transman. In a previous life, Jace worked at Northeastern University as the inaugural coordinator of the LGBTQA Resource Center, and has developed numerous trainings for faculty, staff, and students on issues of gender, sexuality, equity, and inclusion. Jace enjoys rock climbing and camping, in addition to geeky things like board and video games.

Aiden Grace Smith (they/them) is an educator and author. They have taught creative writing, literature, and sometimes sociology at the college level for more than fifteen years.

Laurie Wolfe (she/her) is proud of having been a speaker and trainer with SpeakOUT Boston for over 15 years. She’s also been involved with several other LGBTQ+ organizations in the Boston area during this time, helping lobby for trans rights and training Mikveh guides to attend trans folk amongst other things. She’s performed stories and poems about her life in places such as Club Cafe, The ART’s The Moth, and Hebrew College. She was a founding member of The Butterfly Music Transgender Chorus, the first east coast and second trans chorus in the nation. She currently can be found helping travelers book and change tours and flights at a travel agency in Boston.
