Casey Pons is a 24 year Boston resident, originally from the foothills of North Carolina and uses they/them pronouns. Casey has 20 years of human services and social work experience with a variety of populations and spanning generations from birth to 107 so far. Over the past decade Casey’s work has been community focused, initially doing in home family therapy and more recently mental health crisis counseling in the community and in an emergency room setting as a social worker. Casey believes that leadership and social justice involves challenging and changing narratives based on and centered from community needs and requests.  Casey has been a Steering Committee member for the Massachusetts Transgender Political Coalition for 3 years.rnrnu0026nbsp;

As someone who has been involved with MTPC since the end of its first year in 2002, and with transgender activism since the early 1980’s, I truly believe in MTPC’s mission, values and accomplishments in advocating on behalf of our community.rnrnIn addition, as Executive Director of u003ca href=u0022http://www.bagly.org/u0022 target=u0022_blanku0022 rel=u0022noopeneru0022u003eBAGLYu003c/au003e (MTPC’s fiscal sponsor), I believe that one of the best ways that I can support MTPC at this time is by serving as Treasurer on the MTPC Steering Committee, mentor to the MTPC Director, and liaison to BAGLY’s Board of Directors. It has been my great pleasure to have been able to serve on the MTPC Steering committee over the past few years, and I look forward to working together with all of you as we move forward.

By day, I am a healthcare data scientist, with a specific focus on healthcare products. At night, I am a grassroots activists advocating for queer and trans folks, and people of color.

Originally from NYC, Kaden Mohamed moved to the Boston area in 2010 to attend Wellesley College. There he studied women’s and gender studies and education studies, and was able to explore his interests in social justice and anti-oppression work. This exploration helped him understand and become comfortable with his own gender identity as part of the trans community.rnrnKaden works full-time at u003ca href=u0022https://www.positivelypartners.org/u0022u003ePositively Partnersu003c/au003e, a social enterprise committed to helping organizations achieve exceptional performance from their employees, and has previously served as the Chair for the Massachusetts Transgender Political Coalition’s Steering Committee. He has participated in numerous panels, has been interviewed about trans issues and trans rights by the New York Times, WBUR, the Rainbow Times, The Boston Sunday Review, and TBF News, and was featured in Spirit magazine’s 2017 Young Trailblazers list for activists under 30.
