Transgender Day of Remembrance 2010

The annual Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) memorializes individuals who have been killed throughout the world in the previous year because of anti-transgender hatred. Between 2008 and 2009, at least 163 people were murdered because of their gender identity or gender expression. Unfortunately, we do not have good numbers for 2009-2010.

Brandeis University TDOR Vigil

9:00pm-10:00pm at Brandeis University Peace Circle
In honor of the Transgender Day of Remembrance, TransBrandeis will be holding a vigil after the weekly meeting of Brandeis' queer organization, Triskelion. We'll start by lighting tea candles in the Triskelion Lounge and then walking them up to the Brandeis Peace Circle, where those who feel comfortable will share some words in memory and honor of those lost, and also words of inspiration.

Greenfield, MA TDOR

Will be holding a Transgender Day of Remembrance event from 6:00 - 7:00 pm

There will be a vigil and community speak out at Court Square in Downtown Greenfield (at the intersections of main and federal street). The reception and youth art gallery are located at NELCWIT Offices at 479 Main Street, Greenfield MA.

Tiffany Club of New England(TCNE) and First Presbyterian Church of Waltham (FPCW) are partnernig to celebrate the 12th annual Transgender Day of Remembrance. A potluck supper (bring your favorite yummy dish either prepared by you or bought from your favorite takeout), a screening of the movie, Thy Will be Done, and a time of sharing and fellowship. This is a non-denominational service, all faiths welcome to attend.

Chelmsford TDOR Vigil

7-8PM at First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church

The Welcoming Congregation Committee of First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church, Chelmsford, will be holding a vigil for Transgender Day of Remembrance in the chapel, which is located next to the church parking lot.

The church is located at 2 Westford Street. (For those who know Chelmsford, it's the white church on the hill across from the common. Additional parking may be found behind the Old Town Hall across route 4, and in the Municipal lot off Route 4.)

New Hampshire TDOR Vigil & Reception

Please join the New Hampshire Coalition for Transgender Equality (NHCTE) and TransGender New Hampshire (TG-NH) as we mark the annual Transgender Day of Remembrance with a candlelight vigil. The Transgender Day of Remembrance memorializes individuals who have been killed throughout the world in the previous year because of anti-transgender hatred. Between 2008 and 2009, at least 163 people were murdered because of their gender identity or gender expression.

Immediately following the vigil, the New Hampshire Coalition for Transgender Equality will host a reception inside Grace Church. Come meet the members of this new coalition to hear about our work toward securing legal equality for all New Hampshire residents regardless of their gender identity or expression, and learn how you can get involved.
