Transgender Day of Remembrance 2008 |
|
Every year transgender people around the world gather in solidarity and community to memorialize those who have fallen victim to violence, and to reaffirm our commitment to stand up for ourselves. MTPC supports a community-led and community-driven TDOR event. You do not have to be a member of MTPC to participate in planning this important community event, just get involved. |

Boston TDOR ObservanceThis year's Transgender Day of Remembrance was observed in Boston on Thursday, November 20. The traditional community speakout took place at St. Luke's & St. Margaret's in Allston, and the candlelight vigil, in recognition of 10 years passage since the Rita Hester tragedy, retraced the path taken then. Thank you to all who participated and made this a moving and memorable experience. Images
Longtime GLBT event photographer and friend of the transgender community Marilyn Humphries caught the spirit of event in Allston. View Her Photos Also covering the event was the Allston-Brighton TAB. There's a story about the event at BU's Daily Free Press. There are three short videos posted here, here, and here on youtube. |
