General MembershipGeneral Membership ("members") is open to all full and part-time Massachusetts residents, including students. Members will receive information about the organization and its activities, and are encouraged to attend meetings, provide input to proposals, participate in activities, and donate to the organization. To become a member, please fill out a brief, confidential membership form. Voting MembershipVoting members are members who attend two out of every three general membership meetings, or participate in an equivalent manner. Voting members elect the Steering Committee in an election held each June during the General Membership meeting. If a voting member's participation lapses, voting status remains for three months following the last activity/participation. After three months have passed without participation, voting status ends and participation in two out of three future contiguous months is required to return to voting status. For people unable to attend meetings, the participation requirement can be met by phone or email conversations about the meeting, attending subcommittee meetings, volunteering at an event specifically on the behalf of the MTPC, working on a grant, distributing fliers, working on a current MTPC project, or by otherwise demonstrating commitment and investment to the organization. All participation other than meeting attendance should be documented through email, phone call, or other contact with the steering committee member in charge of tracking membership. DuesDues are on a sliding scale of $1 to $35 dollars annually. Payment of dues does NOT grant voting status, but those who pay dues are looked upon with special kindness by other MTPC members. |
