MTPC mourns passing of Senator Ted Kennedy

August 26th, 2009

The Massachusetts Transgender Political Coalition mourns the passing of Senator Edward Kennedy, who dedicated his life to representing the interests of those less fortunate than himself. Senator Kennedy was a true civil rights champion of our time. He embodied the best in American values: concern for the welfare of others, responsibility to community, and a generous spirit. The transgender community, which gained his respect and support, has lost a newfound champion. We offer our sincerest condolences to his wife Vickie and the Kennedy family. The citizens of Massachusetts have lost a great legislator, friend, and advocate today.

The Massachusetts Transgender Political Coalition (MTPC) is dedicated to ending discrimination on the basis of gender identity and gender expression. MTPC works for a world where persons of all genders are treated with respect and fully participate in all areas of society, free from fear of prohibition, harassment or violence based on their gender identity and/or expression. Its members educate the public, advocate with state, local, and federal government, engage in political activism, and encourage empowerment of community members through collective action.
